HISTORY
Wilnecote Brick Company was formed as a private company in 1930 by Mr. Richard Averill. The Tamworth based works, known as the Averill Works, produced traditional Staffordshire Blue Engineering Bricks with a labour force of some fifty employees. Coal-fired kilns were used and the annual output was between four and five million bricks. In 1937 a further works was opened, again at Tamworth, within half a mile of the first plant. Today's state-of-the-art brick production facility is on the same site as the original blue brick factory. Traditional skills go hand in hand with advanced production techniques to produce the highest quality bricks. |
